Meet-Up research report

Personal Experience

My personal experience was that we did a good job for a pilot test. Of Course we experienced  some problems, but that is what a pilot is meant for. It was clear that the things that weren’t running as it should be, are clearly things I always got trouble with. Structuring and make the last details concrete. And since I created the handbook for that day it isn’t rare we struggled at these points. So I realized we should do that part together and I shouldn't do that part on my own in the first place, but that is my learning point. To afraid to ask for help, because everytime I forgot, I am learning and have weak skills as well.

Evaluation (planning)

I experienced that a little bit more preparations would make it much less chaotic. For the moment it would be great to take a little more time for printing and separate the ‘fill in papers’. I also experienced that processing the data would be easier with bit more preparations.  And at last, we had so much time trouble. I couldn’t go very deep when looking for background values. And that is really important within this research. But the rest of the process went quite well. So in the end a little practise like this helps to fine tune the real research for better result.

Don’t use green, that color belongs to whatsapp.

Red arrow is for go back?
3x Are there more days??? (I already chosen a day)
Unclear there were 3 options
Poolen in my calendar is green so I am available
Buttons on the bottom are unclear —> missing text (legenda)
What about the location?
What is checkmark with the minus??
2x Didn’t saw my agenda in it — > maybe choose the color red and autofill
Great for people you don't see often
Buttons are clear (except question mark and black one)
Combi with agenda is useful

General questions
  • Who is the testing group?
  • How familiar are they with design and prototyping?
  • What is their level of knowledge and is it important?

Conclusion

Excited about the idea
5 of the 7 would use the concept swipe with calendar access because they have a busy life and this does not take a lot of effort. Besides that they say it is easy and easier than whatsapp. That helps because they told that some of them are a disaster with planning.
The reason they wouldn’t use this because friends need to use this as well and some rather use whatsapp. And the most important one would be, that they use a physical agenda.

The respondent didn’t understand the swipe function
The one that understand the swip thought because it was the next page. The rest did not get it because it was a paper prototype so no visualisations or did not noticed the amount of cards get less.

The respondents were mixed about swipe but in the end positive
The positive reactions were mostly convenient and the negative that buttons are better. This because one said that he or she was losing control. And as last but one respondent interpreted that swiping was next screen (left ←→ right).

The respondents experienced this prototype in average as very much  easy

Everyone thinks they would answer quicker with this new concept
This is mostly because this concept puts the appointment in context of your calendar. Furthermore because of the swipe and that it is easier than a list so you would response direct. As last it requires that the buttons should be more clear.

Positive response about permission with the agenda

Users experience these ideas as convenient

Pros
The combination with personal agenda is a key pros
There was positive response when asking permission for accessing personal calendar

Cons
Arrows were understood for going left and right.
The color green for the app icon belongs to whatsapp
Missing the feature to look up answers from friends

Question mark was understood as help out when struggling

Black button was understood as ‘’Maybe I am availible’’ or not understood

Arrows are for next and back ←→

Unclear that you could choose more days. Confusing

Assuming that this event fits in your calendar if the event is shown green

Locations is missing in this concept

One didn’t noticed the personal agenda inside the app

Great for people you dont see often

We did a good job but have to optimize the planning and the  questions for the test plan. And we definitely create more time with every user. The pilot research helps finding these optimizations. For the results we gathered it is clear that almost everyone would like to use an app that has an swipe feature, an app that compares the invitation with his own calendar and has buttons as well. Some users didn’t like to share their calendar because of privacy. This was because it was unclear to them what sharing was in this context. Sharing with the app, friends or internet? But maybe the most important is that everybody thought they would answer quicker with this method.
