Team Project Scope

Summary of The New World of Work

The information-worker software needs to evolve. Today, competitive advantage comes from the ability to transform ideas into value. But it's not easy enough to find the information people need to do their jobs.

We will be improving personal productivity with new software that will learn from the way you work. With pattern recognition and adaptive filtering to automate many routine tasks. Unified communication will provide a single point of entry, consistent across applications and devices. Presence information will help information and notifications flow where they're needed. Team collaboration will become far more robust and XML and Web services are making it possible for businesses to share information. Software tools will find the right information and spot trends for business intelligence. Smarter workflow tools will use pattern recognition and logic to find problems.

The tools that information workers use must evolve, we aim to make this happen through a next-generation productivity platform.

What I learned

To make a good argument you need to convince the other person why change is mandatory. The reason why action is needed. One way to convince people is to show them the results of the change.

An insight

You shouldn’t have to think like a database. You can translate this to work rythms: The software and the tools delivered need to think, you shouldn't have to think about your work rhythms

Summary of Research Report

The research shows that people working at Microsoft would like to have the
opportunity to work flexibly at least on occasion. This counts especially for man.
The flexibility program is already applied and used in Europe and the leaders of
flexibility are Austria, Denmark and Sweden.
The importance of flexibility is mostly coming from causes as caring for children
under five, school kids and pets. Another cause is that the office workers, are
under pressure at least on occasion to not work late, and yet eight in ten do work
some overtime. Besides that, most of the employees think that their lives would
be better if they could work more flexibly and would choose a mixture of
working in the office. They say that they would also be away from it in an ideal
world. Almost half of the respondents think flexible working would be at least
very important to any decision they would make about changing job. Half of the
flexible workers believe they work more productively away from the office, and
the other half says this is because they can fit their work around personal
commitments. Three in ten of the office workers are actually the most productive
at home.  So therefore, whether it being flexible in regard to place or time of
work, there are strong indications that employers can improve the productivity
of their employees by allowing them to work flexibly.
The difference between big and small companies is the attitude to flexible
working. At a small company employees work far more flexible than big
companies. And small organisations also have more support in place and the
right policy.
More than one third of the respondents have never worked away from the office.
But since more than a half of the of European businesses allow staff to work
flexibly but just less than one-third of businesses across Europe provide
corporate guidelines on flexible work, this could be a barrier to change to the
new flexible working. Plus almost half of the respondents don’t fully trust their
colleagues to work productively away from the office.
The role of the IT department could be the reason why 68% of employees who
work overtime each week, do so from the office. And the reason why 43% of all
office workers and one-third of those working for a large enterprise use either a
personal laptop or mobile device for email access. Because 1 of the 5 employees
find there already over-stretched IT team “very helpful” in providing technology
support for flexible working. This combined with the results that more than half
of respondents lack access to a company laptop or mobile email device to help
them when working flexibly. As organisations increase in size, more respondents
want improved software which mirrors their work PC and systems
Personally I learned that these new methods of flexibility working are more in
use than I was aware of. Besides that I realised the impact of the quality of the IT
services has so much impact. And what surprises me was that small businesses
are more make use of this system.
Helpful information for the project could be that locations also have his
preferences in this environment. So since everyone is more and more away form
the office but everywhere else, let co-workers not only choice between date and
time, but create an option in location together with date and time.

Project Organization

Project Organization

Reflection on the experience of working in project groups.
Working in team can have advantages and drawbacks. Every individual is different and acquires qualities combined with diverse character lines. With this said, a reasonable assumption can be stated that the mixture of human assets can create a potentially successful team. The experience gained through projects and assignments can be negative or positive, but in the end we all gain insights by not doing or doing certain tasks. This means every action you make rewards you with feedback on how to do it more accurately and express yourself better next time. Motivation is one of the key aspects of the project process. People need to be motivated so that their creation process does not strive. Giving positive reaction and expressing your feelings regarding certain idea can significantly boost your colleagues’ incentives and ensure a better atmosphere while working. It is important for a team to function as one big production unit, similar to personal computer. The project members are like the different hardware components and motivation is playing the power supply element. Engaging all members to use their full potential can secure great outcome possibilities, innovating the end product or service.

What have you done in the past that made a project group great?

-   Task & Time organization
Keeping team assignments systematized and easy to access can harvest great success. In order to accomplish such an outcome a database must be established as single control/access unit. All users must know how to interact with its interface and store their data. An addition a schedule planner must be introduced, so that people can be informed when they need to attend certain meeting or present their results. A team leader can follow if this important rhythm is followed.
- Quality control choices
Quality control is a portion every process, because it ensures that the decision is fulfilling all the necessary criteria’s set initially or in later stages by the design team.
- Motivate the team
Motivation is an enormous segment of process because it has to be present in order for every team member to prompt his full potential.
- Critic
Criticizing a result or a concept can trigger doubt. But it can also generate additional ideas and lead to incremental changes.
- Video Visualization
This can be personas in projects which assist designers to imagine interaction between real life people and the actual usage of the product or service.
- Prototype finishing
This is the final materialization of concept project. Usually, it is one of the last phases in the process, gathering all the insights and research that has been made initially. The prototype is not the final product but is a close representation of the capabilities and aesthetics of the product.
What worked well in creating a team spirit and what didn’t?
Positive:
+ Bringing snacks
+ Giving credit where credit is due (Positive feedback)
+ Constant updates on the process development
+ Collaborating with experts and teachers increases your security and motivation levels
+ Agreeing with final decision for the project
+ Open-mindedness
Negative:
- Criticizing without argumentation or alternative proposition with more benefits
- Negative attitude towards your
- Procrastinating
- Setting school priorities at the wrong order
- Failing to accomplish your assigned task without asking for help from the other members
What do you plan to do during this project to strive for a good team with a great result?
1) Keep motivation high
2) Help each other if we cannot do a certain task
3) Communicate on our schedule status(Availability)
4) Organize and Prioritize correctly
5) Contact teachers and experts to gain more insights
6) Get to know each other a little better.
7) Demonstrate reliability
8) Listen actively what everybody has to propose
9) Respect each other opinion
